Julio Ríos-Figueroa is Associate Professor of Political Science at CIDE, in Mexico City. He received his Ph.D. in Politics from New York University (NYU). His research on comparative institutions, constitutionalism, law and courts, and Latin American politics has been published in journals such as Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Law, Economics & Organization, and Latin American Politics & Society. He is author of the book Constitutional Courts as Mediators. Armed Conflict, Civil-Military Relations, and the Rule of Law in Latin America as well as co-editor with Gretchen Helmke of the volume Courts in Latin America both published by Cambridge University Press. Professor Ríos-Figueroa has been a Hauser Research Scholar at the NYU School of Law, Visiting Professor at the Juan March Institute in Madrid, and O’Gorman Fellow at Columbia University. He is the current editor of Política y gobierno.

Julio Ríos Figueroa es profesor investigador de la División de Estudios Políticos del CIDE en la Ciudad de México, e investigador nacional Nivel II. Es doctor en ciencia política por la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU). Sus investigaciones se centran en los temas de constitucionalismo, estado de derecho y poder judicial desde una perspectiva de política comparada especialmente sobre América Latina. Sus artículos han sido publicados en revistas como Comparative Polítical StudiesJournal of Law, Economics & OrganizationComparative PoliticsLatin American Politics & Society y el Journal of Latin American Studies.  El profesor Ríos es co-editor, con Gretchen Helmke, del libro Courts in Latin America y autor del libro Constitutional Courts as Mediators. Armed Conflict, Civil-Military Relations, and the Rule of Law in Latin America, ambos publicados por Cambridge University Press. El profesor Ríos ha sido Hauser Research Scholar en la escuela de leyes de la Universidad de Nueva York, profesor visitante en el Instituto Juan March en Madrid, y O’Gorman Fellow en la Universidad de Columbia. Actualmente es editor de Política y gobierno.
